FULL DAY Tour - Trekking Machuca - Rio Grande
The route that we will walk today is one of great historical significance, since it has carried people, animals and goods in caravans up and down the mountains for centuries. The views of desert, mountains and volcanoes as far as the eye can reach make one feel humble towards natureand makes you appreciate the grandness of it all. We will start the hike in the village of Machuca, a resting point on the “Inca Highway” at an altitude of 4,000 m / 13,120 ft above sea level. The descending path passes through canyons or Quebradas, and reveals some of the most amazing colour pallets of sand and stones. We will pass through some ancient villages and are likely to spot animals and birds along the way. Around lunchtime we will arrive at the village of Río Grande, where we will get an image of the local way of life that has remained the same over the last centuries.
